Maximum Hydration Method and Wash & Go

πŸ™‹πŸ™‹πŸ™‹πŸ™‹πŸ™‹πŸ™‹ Hi guys so I should be at church today but I worked Thursday – Friday 8:30am to 8:30am straight then I didn’t go home and sleep like I usually do, my bestie wanted a day of excursion with the kids so I actually never got home until Friday at about 5pm… Sooooo that’s a lot of hours being awake and we actually went to a river (castleton gardens) so lots of rocks and climbing and I’m just beat. So my husband and stepdaughter went to church and im jus gonna sleep and rest at home.

But today before I discuss the topic at hand I want to share with you Matthew 6:19-34. Its one of my favourite whenever you get the chance read it. Its an encouraging scripture and I just want to look at verse 33 which says “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” I believe always and forever that if we do seek God, seek to learn of him and dwell in his grace it can only bring true happiness, goodness and hope. That’s my little devotion with you guys today😘😘😘😘😘😘.

OK so I recently learnt about the Maximum Hydration Method and how it works well to give you defined wash and gos. Now forever I have always noticed that once my hair is saturated with water or conditioner my curl pattern is off the chains, but once it dries its like it never existedπŸ˜–πŸ˜–πŸ˜–πŸ˜–…can anybody testify?πŸ™‹πŸ™‹πŸ™‹πŸ™‹πŸ™‹. So I know for sure that more moisture = more hydration = defined curls. But I never knew how to achieve that. So I started searching and looking around. Now if you have read my blog about wash and gos you know I literally condemned that process because it just never worked for me at alllllllllllllll. But I did promise I would research and try again. And I believe maybe the maximum hydration method could be the way to go. However I have some serious concerns.

1. Time – the time and work that I would have to put into this method is very discouraging. 7-day challenge looks like a lot of work. And the steps are just too much. So the time is making me very hesitant.

2. Over manipulation- with this method it comes with a lot of steps with a lot of manipulation. So that concerns me a bit. I keep wondering if my hair will probably start breaking because of the manipulation everyday for 7 days.

3. Clarifying agents – baking soda and avc tends to dry my hair which is why I stopped using them. My scalp would becoming very itching and I just couldn’t manage.

Lots of DIY- the amount of stuff you have to make in this process is also stressing me out. A mean do you see my work hours and I live in the hills traveling is a lot to and from work. So doing a lot of DIY everyday for my hair 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 I’m crying already.

So those are my four major concerns with this method. But I really want to try it and my will to try is much more than my concerns so this is what I have decided.

1. Time and over manipulation- instead of doing it 7 days straight I will be doing it every three nights. That way I don’t feel burdened and I reduce how much time my hands go in my hair. I’m thinking that 7 days doesn’t necessarily me 7 consecutive days (correct me if I’m wrong). And even if it is remember my motto “rock your fabulosity, rock your unique” so at the end of the day its what works for me.

2. Clarifying- I will be reevaluating how I make up my avc rinse and baking soda. I never experimented on it I just stop using it all together so maybe for my hair type I had in too much avc or baking soda or too much water. So I will be looking through videos and blogs to see how others do it so that I can correct my method.

Lots of DIY- if I do the concoctions in bigger batches I’m thinking it should help some what.

So those are my thoughts. If you have tried this method let me know in the comment section what your experiences were and any thoughts at all I would love to hear them.

Thanks for reading guys…Jesus loves you. 😘😘😘😘😘😘😘

My one year hair growth. I placed this on Instagram @dandilious and I thought I would input this here.

New and improved Wash Day Routine πŸ™ŒπŸ™ŒπŸ™ŒπŸ™Œ

πŸ™‹πŸ™‹πŸ™‹πŸ™‹Hey everybody Gia here with another blog. How is everybody doing, hope we are good and alive and well. So I

actually getting ready to go to work, but I had to upload this blog. I have added some great things to my wash day which has improved the life of my hair immensely. Without further chatter let me delve into the best wash day procedure for Ms.Fro (praise Jesus I think I finally got wash day down πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ™ŒπŸ™ŒπŸ™ŒπŸ™ŒπŸ™Œ).

1. Prepoo

I still prepoo with oils I now use a oil mixture by Keera it’s a Jamaican product. It has emu oil (I haven’t done proper research on this oil but many sing the praises of it), jojoba oil, coconut oil, avocado oil, castor oil, soybean oil and lavender essential oil. I’m not sure if this is international yet but its really good. But the big change in my prepoo routine is the addition of tuna plant (prickly pear, Barbary fig) whatever you call it is now the best part of my prepoo. I have fine strand and since I started using the plant my hair is fuller…likeeeeeeee yeaaaaa. I realize that God is soooo awesome I knew this right but each and everyday I prove it. He thought of everything, we have all the things we need in plantsπŸ˜€πŸ˜€πŸ˜€πŸ˜πŸ˜ look at that. So if you wanna know what I do exactly leave a comment and I will make a blog about it.

2. Shampoo and conditioner

Still do the same thing for shampooing, still using my Shea moisture yucca and plantain (yep im gonna have this forever cause a little goes along way, I try not to be a product junkie…childdddd me nuh ave the greens fi that, when dem done a dat time me go buy…dwlπŸ˜‚) concentrating the shampoo to my scalp and not my ends. Still using my hello hydration conditioner ( holy grail right there) but this is where it gets interesting. After shampooing I section my hair put the conditioner on my ends, massage downward then under running water I detangle my hair with a wide tooth comb ( yep I am now using comb and I have no fear…yaaassssπŸ™ŒπŸ™ŒπŸ™ŒπŸ˜€πŸ˜€. Mama always said I shouldn’t comb my hair when it wet, but mama was wrong (not necessarily my mom but you know passed down story). This has reduce my detangling time to half and I have wayyyyyyyy less shedding. The comb glides through my hair and its just heaven. After detangling I do a two strand twist of that section under the running water then move to another section. And speaking of shedding I have also added black tea rinse to my regimen I used bigelow decaffeinated black tea right after shampooing and before conditioning but I do it every month not every wash day cause caffeine can be very drying to my hair ( found out that little disclaimer by experience).

3. Deep conditioning

For deep conditioning I am now using Cantu but I had to bump it up with oils and stuff didnt have much slip in my opinion. Deep conditioning takes the same form as conditioning. I pull out a section apply DC, retwist, when all sections are complete I use my trusty plastic bag, steam, and take down under running water as with conditioning and retwist.

4. LOC method

I do the LOC method in the shower as well way easier. I do it section by section and retwist when I’m finished with a section. I am using creme of nature coconut milk leave in conditioner, keera  hair oil and avocado butter.

5. Styling

Styling still the same I use oyin burnt sugar pomade and ecostyler argan oil to do my twistout (yep still doing those, lazy to try anything else…yeas I know sad…dwl)

OK so thats it. The addition of tuna plant, black tea rinse, detangling under running water and using sections have now made wash day perfect. So if you are still struggling with your wash day maybe you can try some of the ideas above and see if it works.

Happy discovering guys, and remember rock your unique, rock your fabulosity mwahhhh😘😘😘😘😘.

Holy Grail….πŸ™πŸ™πŸ™πŸ™πŸ™ Awwwwww

πŸ™‹πŸ™‹πŸ™‹πŸ™‹πŸ™‹πŸ™‹ Hi everybody Mrs. H in the house, how is everybody doing hope 2017 is treating you right if not πŸ˜–πŸ˜–πŸ˜– I’m so sorry I really do hope it gets better. But with life my lovelies there is hope especially hope in Jesus. Soooo guess what????? January 21st marked the 11th month that I have been married to my made in heaven husband. Can you believe that February 21st is just around the corner and we will be celebrating 1 year of blissful togetherness (and don’t think its blissful because we never had the struggles…no,no,no hunny, its blissful because we had the struggles and we overcame) #teamhamm #unitedinChrist. Its been great and I’m looking forward to our first milestone πŸ’‘πŸ’ƒπŸ’ž.

OK so into the meat of the matter. I brought some hair trends, products and processes into 2017 that I think have become my holy grail, my sacredness for Ms. Fro and my motto is if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. So I will be keeping these until they decided to fail me.

1. Coconut Oil

Coconut oil…ohhh how I love you and so does my hair. I use the Shea moisture coconut oil and I love. My whole body loves it because I use it practically everywhere. For my hair I use it as apart of my LOC method (just warm up the product in my hand because its still ridiculously cold in Temple Hall, Jamaica, and I rub it on the hair and my ends) and I use it as a daily moisturizer for my skin and face. My husband uses it as well and ohhh guess what I started doing. Because its cold up here my skin has been a little dry, so I thought if my hair is doing so well with the LOC method, what if I could use the LOC method on my skin πŸ˜•πŸ˜•πŸ˜•πŸ˜• yeaaaaa 😽😁 well it turns out I could and it works wonders no more dry skin. So when I come out the shower I don’t dry off completely I leave my skin a little wet, then I rub the coconut oil all over my skin and then I add my bath and body works A thousand wishes lotion (my fav) and walalala great soft skin for the entire day. Don’t knock it till you try it…dwl.

2. Sheamoisture 10-in-1 renewal system deep conditioner

Other than the fact that I love love love the colour of the container, I also love how my hair feels. This product has great slippage, glides easily, nourishes, moisturizes and detangles. This right here is my holy grail of deep conditioners I will never give it up.

3. Yucca and Plantian anitbrekage shampoo by Shea moisture

So this help me a lot when I was trying to restore my hair. Really does what it says and it doesn’t strip my hair. I was an avid co-washer when I first started by now I’m an avid shampoo-washer. The co-washing was not growing my hair, or helping it so I stop. Just wasn’t for Ms. Fro.

4. Oyin burnt sugar pomade

Hello Breakfastttt….yep this pomade smells like breakfast and I love it. It does an excellent job in defining my curls and sealing my ends. And it smells divine.

5. Ecostyler Argan Oil Gel

My go-to gel it does the curls well without the crunch.

6. Twist out

Will be doing this for  lifetime, less shedding and it last way longer than wash and go.

OK so thats it…can I tell you how I falling asleep, exhausted much πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ anyway those are my holy grail. I love you guys, excuse the grammatical errors if you see any and remember #roxckyourfabulosity…chao

Wash and Go….πŸ˜•

πŸ™‹πŸ™‹πŸ™‹πŸ™‹πŸ™‹πŸ™‹ Hi everybody, welcome to day 10 of 2017. If you are reading this then you got one thing to thank God for the gift of sight…praise Jesus. So its been a rocky start for me in 2017 again. Been having some pains on the left side of my stomach and turns out I have two ovarian cyst….I know right. The devil is trying pretty hard but God is able, they also discovered another issue on the ultrasound that my gynae is worried about and I have to do a procedure to see if its something, but you know I’ve decided that if God brings me to it, he’s gonna bring me through it, so I’m focusing of living, loving and carrying on in Jesus name. That was a little testimony about what’s been going on so far in 2017 so on to the topic at hand…wash and go.

So on the 30thof December, 2016 I did my regular wash day and twistout but the FAM wanted to spend the day at the beach on the 2nd of January, 2017  before we had to run into the reality of work and of course I had to do all sorts of flips and twists and dive in the water so twist out got ruined dwl. Anyway we came back pretty late, I was tired and I needed a quick solution so I told my hubby I was gonna try a wash and go πŸ˜•. Now I don’t even know why they name it wash and go. I get the wash part but its the go part that I have a serious problem with. It took practically longer than when I do a twist out and it lasted only a day. My hair was like a hot mess by the second day and I had to use way more product to achieve some sort of sanity in my hair.

Let me tell u what I did. I washed my hair, did my LOC method and I used ecostyler argan oil gel plus oyin burnt sugar pomade (I saw someone use this combo on YouTube, and its my go to for my twist out so I thought hey should work). Now I can’t understand if I’m washing and going why do I still have to sit and achieve curl pattern with products. To me that’s a wash, style and go (maybe they should call it that WSG, lol, a mean that’s more appropriate) but it seem like it was working but when I went to work by the end of the day my hair was forming a mat and I was like what the hell. The take down was also stressful cause I had loads of shedding on wash day.

CONCLUSION: WASH AND GOSπŸ˜• πŸ˜•πŸ˜•πŸ˜•πŸ˜• definitely not for Gia, I can cross that off my bucket list, tried it, hated it and will more likely never try again, I will stick to twist outs please and thanks…dwl. Let me know if you do wash and gos and how you do it. For now Gia out, love you guys, remember rock your fabulosity, rock your unique. All the best for 2017.

Mold vs The Hamms

πŸ™‹πŸ™‹πŸ™‹πŸ™‹πŸ™ŒπŸ™ŒπŸ™Œ Hi dolls been gone a minute but Gia is back up in it. So been down with the flu and been busy busy busy Christmas season and all but I am coming to you with another blog. Nothing to do with hair, this is about the evil that’s living in my house…dum, dum, dum, dummmmm…MOLD. So other day I was home and I realize I was getting a nasty smell every time I came home, so I started paying attention. Then I notice there was green stuff on my shoes, the sofa, computer chair everywhere…even my pillows 😱😱😱😱. So my husband and I had to get down to cleaning and saving our stuff (some stuff we had to have a funeral for…so sad 😭😭😭😭, my bags, 😭😭😭😭😭😭) but it was everywhere… EVERYWHEREEEEEEEE.

So I learnt from my research that mold comes around because it’s really cold and humid or its ridiculously hot and humid. Its cold here, really cold. So the walls sweat like crazy, sometimes everything feels super clammy, I didn’t even notice that the dark spots creeping through the paint was mold..smh. We had a real infestation. We went to megamart here in Jamaica and started looking up stuff to combat the mold. We got gloves, face mask, Tilex mold and mildew remover with clorox bleach, damprid, extra clorox bleach, vinegar, lemon and salt.

  1. Tilex Mold and Miles Remover plus

We used this spray concoction on all hard surfaces even the once where there was no visible mold. The spores spread through the air and breeze so we weren’t taking any chances. We even used it on the walls it worked miracles I swear. I didn’t even have to wipe anything, it took less than a minute and the mold started going away.

See the dark spots and look at my plaque, it was riddled in mold, I almost cried cause it was a special wedding present buttttt we did save it….yeaaaaaaaa.

So after like less than 5 minutes

You see that, it’s a miracle potion in a bottle. And I am happy to report that it is still mold free today 2 weeks later. So that was a great buy.

2. Clorox bleach, warm water and vinegar.

So I mixed these and put in my spray bottle, I didn’t really have any portion blend, so kinda threw them together. I used this concoction on materials that’s couldn’t take the tilex, like my white tablecloth and metal and my pots and pans (yes them too).

3. Lemon Juice and  Salt

Freshly squeezed lemon juice and salt in a paste. I used thing along with my tooth brush to get out the mold from my bed (yes there too) and sofa.

The last thing we did was to put stuff that could go outside in the sun for as long as the sun permitted us. And I can safely say so far we’re mold free 2 weeks later.

The damprid I used to remove as much moisture from the air. It last two weeks. Seeeeee

I have to invest in a dehumidifier, I just can’t find where on earth its sold in Jamaica. I might have to ship it. But so far the Hamms win. Hamms 1 and Mold 0. Gia outttttπŸ™‹.

πŸ™‹πŸ™‹πŸ™‹πŸ™‹πŸ™‹ Hi dolls Gia in the H.O.U.S.E say whattttt dwl…OK…lol. Anyway welcome back to another of my super silly blogs let me tell you guys it is fricking cold in Temple Hall Jamaica like what the backside, look what happened to my coconut oil.

You see that frozen solid in Jamaica, like whatttttt. I just moved to this side of jamrock about a month now and the cold is serious. Today is wash day and I like got up early, went to get my squeezy bottle with coconut oil to do my prepoo and child, I would squeeze forever cause nothing was coming out, lol, meanwhile in Kingston my mom is telling me to send the cold down there, mountain life guys, mountain life. So based on how cold its getting its time to protective style. I go back to work Monday (😭 a mean I love my job and I love that I have a job, thank you Jesus, butttt imma miss my warm bed), its also cold at work, I work in a lab so the AC kicks there too, so I’m thinking that I ain’t gonna wanna wash my hair often in this kinda weather, nope nope HELL NO, too cold (I’m already struggling to bathe for Christ sake) so time to protective style until this weather sorts out itself.

You can follow me on Instagram @dandilious, I haven’t figured out how the followings work on WordPress to add links and stuff but imma get there, its a working progress. So follow me there I will be updating my protective style journey there. But I wanted to stop and tell you guys what my plan is today. So I will be doing my regular washday I spoke about that yesterday you can look at the blog (wash day regimen) and then I will be getting my hair bone straight 😱😱😱😱😱. Yes because I wanna do single crotchet, I had it in before but I didn’t fully straighten my hair, I blow dried it yes to a point, but that’s all I did. The reason why I want it bone straight for this style is because, it will last longer (my hair reverted very quickly with the other one so the style only lasted for a week). So I havent  been bone straight for months now before my big chop that is, so I am a bit nervous. But what I plan to do is wash my hair and stuff, then section it into about six parts, spray my tresemme thermal creations heat tamer on each section generously, then when I am finished use the heat tamer again with the flat iron on small sections of my hair πŸ‘. I also hope to do a trim, if I can find where I put my hair scissors, if not I will leave that part for husband for another time, he’s always the one cutting anyway. Right soooo that’s the plan wish me luck dolls. AGAIN FOLLOW ME ON INSTAGRAM @DANDILIOUS, updates will be there and we will see how this turns out.

Chao guys…Gia out
